Healing from Trauma: A Journey of Courage, Forgiveness, and Resilience

Trauma doesn’t ask for permission to enter our lives. It can happen in a split second, but its effects can last a lifetime. It doesn’t matter how long you were exposed to it—the reality is that trauma leaves its mark. And for many of us, the life we’re living today doesn’t truly feel like ours. Why? Because we’re living in the shadows of our trauma.

In my book, On My Way Back to Yesterday, I open up about the silent battles I endured, the struggles I carried alone, and the weight of the pain that shaped my journey. There were times when I felt like I was suffocating under the burden of unspoken hurt, but through perseverance and faith, I found a path to healing.

Here’s what I’ve learned:
Identify the Trauma
The first step to healing is acknowledgment. Trauma thrives in silence and denial. When we name it, we take the first step in reclaiming our power.
Give Yourself Grace to Heal
Healing doesn’t happen overnight. It isn’t a race or a checklist. It’s a deeply personal process that unfolds naturally when you’re ready. I learned that it’s okay to not be okay for a while—what matters is granting yourself permission to heal at your own pace.
Forgive and Let Go
Forgiveness is not about condoning what happened; it’s about freeing yourself from the weight of anger and resentment. It’s a gift you give yourself, and it opens the door to healing.
Healing is a Lifelong Journey
There will be moments when familiar triggers bring back painful memories. But with healing, you gain control over how those memories affect you. My journey in On My Way Back to Yesterday is proof that, while the scars may remain, they no longer define your story.

Trauma doesn’t have to own you. You have the strength to rewrite your narrative, just as I did. My book is not just a story of my life—it’s a guide for anyone who has ever felt broken, lost, or unsure of how to move forward.
Are you ready to take the first step toward healing?
